Note : We lost ultra-prolific character actor Wings Hauser recently, and that's a good a reason as any to revisit this nasty piece of 80s exploitation trash. It's scare-em-straight, drugs-and-perdition copaganda of the highest order, only noticeable for the totally unhinged performance by Hauser, who plays a man so violent and insane he at one point headbutts a cop... using someone else's head . The rest of the competent cast includes Season Hubley, Gary Swanson, Pepe Serna, and Beverly Todd.

A down on her luck businesswoman turned prostitute known as "Princess" works Sunset Boulevard to support her daughter. As she's preparing her daughter for a visit to her grandmother in San Diego, she received a call from fellow sex worker and friend Ginger, who's in hiding from her pimp Ramrod. Before Princess can do anything, Ramrod tracks Ginger down, tricks her into opening the door, and violently rapes her. LAPD vice squad cops Walsh and Edwards are called to the hospital, and arrive just in time to see Ginger die painfully from her injuries. Walsh swears he'll take Ramrod down, and recruits Princess for a sting operation, coercing her with the threat of her daughter being taken from her. Princess wears a wire to a club, gets Ramrod's attention, and goes home with him, the cops intervening once they have enough evidence. Ramrod furiously resists arrest, and on the drive to the station manages to disable both cops in the car with his sheer psycho force of will, escaping into the night, vowing revenge on Princess and the cops...

This is a pretty nice 4k remaster, with restrained grain, good color and contrast, and a suitably early-80s slight tobacco brown tinge to the entire sordid affair. Sound is also fine, and the two commentary tracks interesting enough, although I'd be more curious about Hauser's take.
